On July 9, showcase will premiere an all-new limited series Sharp Objects, marked by a tour de force performance by Amy Adams, and featuring the talents of top writers and producers.
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), directed by Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club, Emmy® winner for Big Little Lies) and with Marti Noxon (Dietland, Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, Unreal) as series showrunner, Sharp Objects is an eight-episode limited drama series that stars five-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams as Camille Preaker, a city journalist with a history of psychiatric issues, who returns to her rural hometown of Wind Gap, to cover the apparent murders of two preteen girls.
Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, Camille finds herself clashing with her overbearing mother, Adora (Patricia Clarkson), falling back into a dangerous series of self-destructive habits, and identifying with the young murder victims a bit too closely
All eight one-hour episodes of Sharp Objects were directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, who in addition to his work on Big Little Lies won acclaim for directing Wild and Dallas Buyers Club (Best Editing Oscar® nomination).
Sharp Objects premieres on July 9, express from the US and exclusively on Foxtel’s showcase
