Ted’s wife. An Army engineer herself, who grapples not only with her loss, but her increased disillusionment with the Defence Force she has given her life to, when questions about Ted’s death lead her to suspect a cover-up. Her teenage daughter Maya, forced to grow up without her dad, hates that the Army that took him from her, and tries to find a reason to believe his death was worth something.

Kate Mulvany is and an award-winning actor, screenwriter, playwright, librettist and dramaturg. She has appeared on television in All Saints, Blue Heelers, The Chaser’s War On Everything, Chandon Pictures, The Hamster Wheel, The Underbelly Files – The Man Who Got Away, Winter and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Series 3 and her film credits include The Final Winter, Griff The Invisible, The Great Gatsby, The Little Death and The Merger.
On stage Kate has performed for all major theatre companies around Australia include in her own play The Seed. As a writer, her early plays include Blood & Bone (winner of Naked Theatre Company’s Write Now competition), Story Time, The Danger Age, Vaseline Lollies, Naked Ambition, the musicals Embalmer! (co- written with Pip Branson) and Somewhere (co-written with award-winning comedian and musician Tim Minchin). In 2004, Kate was the winner of the Belvoir Street Theatre Philip Parsons Award for which she was commissioned to write The Seed.
