Izzy’s very pregnant young wife, Leilani is passionate, huge hearted and a child-care worker. She grew up in Sydney’s multi- cultural west and knew Izzy’s family from her church. She loved Izzy’s big arms around her – a man who when he held you, you knew you’d been held – but also his sensitivity. She knew he would be a great father. But like Siaosi she has been shocked by the Izzy who has returned from war: his anger, his sullenness, and the real danger he represents to their future as a family. Leilani didn’t think she could’ve been more worried than when he was away, but now Izzy-at-home is the bigger worry.
